FCT – Flow Control Technologies

High pressure / High Temperature
API 6A (HP/HT)

FCT was a pioneer in the development of the first prototype, a 13”5/8 API 15 000. This valve was built with the help of the EEC in 1995/1996 on the request of ELF/SHELL for the Elgin Franklin field.

We had to perform an extremely demanding qualification procedure including over 1000 cycles, high and low temperature, etc. This valve was the first one able to operate against a differential pressure of 900 bars @ 185°C. Driven by this success, FCT delivered all the HP/HT valves of Elgin Franklin Wellhead Platform: 70 valves from 8″ to 13”5/8″ API 15 000.

FCT became then the HP/HT ball valves leader and supplied products for all the main subsequent projects, such as:

HIPPS

High Integrity Pressure Protection System

FCT was one of the first suppliers providing ball valves for HIPPS application in 1997 and first ball valves manufacturer to be SIL 3 certified in 2002.

FCT always focused on highest integrity valves for harsh applications. These valves are built with all options preventing from failure in order to guarantee the maximum safety level.
On Elgin Franklin, In 1997, ELF/SHELL ask FCT delivered 4 valves 13”5/8 API 15 000 with pressure protection function of the downstream process platform. Without this equipment, de-rating of the downstream installation (to 1500#) would not have been possible, and the project would not have been profitable because such high rating process equipment was not available on the market at that time. Even nowadays, the cost would be far too expensive to be profitable.

Products – Valve Top Entry High pressure for Oil & Gas services.

Work – Offshore to replace critical valves (old valves design in carbon steel were corroded, eroded, etc). FCT was also involved in refurbishing the duplex valves from soft seats and elastomeric O’rings to metal seats and PTFE Lip seals.
